Unglaubiche Wuschelkopf Kobold!

I'm sure I butchered the translation, but here's Nightcrawler, the "Incredible Fuzzy Elf!" Always dug Kurt Wagner and felt he was never handled with respect by certain writers, but man, what a design. Way to go, Mr. Cockrum.

Great model at yesterday's session at Figureworks, but I guess I wasn't in my groove when drawing.

Slim Summers, One Eyed Wonder

Cyclops, team leader and all-around wet blanket, joins the jog. Classic, baby, no multi-pocketed, gratuitous torso and thigh belts for this guy.

Big, Metal Ruskie

Joining the runt, Colossus, one of my favorite X-Peoples, is taking a stroll as well. Where are these guys running to? Me not know. But, hey, so far, we have two parts of a fastball special. More X-Mens soon...

Everyone's Favorite, Little, Hairy Mutant

Here's a pic of Wolverine running into action. What a crazy, little scrapper! Expect to see a few "All New, All Different" X-Peoples running around the blog in the next week or so.

Pope Lands At JFK

Yesterday morning, Pope Benedict XVI landed on the tarmac at JFK after a short flight from Andrews Airforce Base in Maryland. When greeted by officials and well-wishers, and asked how he was feeling, Pope replied, "I just flew in from DC and, boy, are my arms tired!" A collective groan was then heard followed by a mass eye-roll.

A Day In The Life Of Joe

Did these right quick for a buddy of mine. He wanted some visuals for an oral presentation he has to give for Italian class. Hopefully the quick renderings won't drop his grade any, but he was pretty pleased with the work. Me help in edumacation.

Figure Drawing 4/12/08

Met up with my friend Helena yesterday to do some life drawing hosted by a local gallery, Figureworks. We are both a bit rusty, but above are a few of the drawings I've selected for the blog. Helena said I drew his donger a bit too big, to which I replied, you can never draw a donger too big. Yes, we're the picture of maturity.

The 100th Post Featuring Hobo Joe

Well, this is the 100th post since I started brendantobin.blogspot.com nearly one year ago and for such an occasion, I give you something special: Hobo Joe. The man we have deemed Hobo Joe resides on West 44th Street, actually ON West 44th Street. He is foul mouthed and surly, my kind of guy. He enjoys whipping bottles at people, telling passers-by to eff off, and taking dumps in pizza boxes. Sure, I sound flip about a person living on the street, but you'd have to meet the guy to see where I'm coming from. Hopefully, everything will work out for the man, but for now, I have to dodge the occasional tossed bottle or f-bomb. God Bless you, HJ.

Pocket Sketch Series 1

Well, with March MODOK Madness wrapped up, I thought I needed to find a similar project to keep me busy during the month of April. We're a few days into April now and I'm a little slow with starting my next project: start drawing from life again. Yes, it's something I should do a lot more as I was on top of my game way back when I was drawing all the time for school and the constant computer drawing and cartoon stuff has left me a bit rusty. On a recent trip to the art store, one item I picked up was a 4" x 6" sketchbook, which I'm trying to fill up this month. Anyway, trying not to turn this blog into a little girl diary ("Why won't Kevin call me back? I COULD JUST DIE!"), so back to the art:

These are rough, but I'm a bit rusty.

The Dreaded Cake Monster

If there's one thing the cake monster likes, it would have to be delicious cake. But really, you probably figured that out for yourself.

Anyway, thanks to Mark for throwing me an impromptu bash at the Abbey on Thursday. Thanks to all who showed up, called, or emailed me their birthday wishes. Good #32 all around.

However, now that it's the 5th, our beloved cake monster moves on over to devour Hsin-Yi's birthday cake. Have a good one, girl, and cake monster, I'll see you next year.
