So Long, Thanks For All The MODOK...

Threw this together at the last minute so I could include a goodbye. Thank you one and all for making March MODOK Madness a success for yet another year. Thanks to co-blogger Pedro Delgado for your posting efforts and staying on top of submissions, Kasra Ghanbari for his continued contribution from his collection, and Mighty Fine for joining in the fun. I hope our shilling brought some people your way to buy some great MODOK merch. Hope to see you all next year, keep drawing those MODOKs! Sorry for the brief exodus, MODOK takes a lot out of me every March and I need some sleep. And to give some love to April and Arnim Zola...

Thus ends March MODOK Madness 2011.

Your Pal Cal

Here's to Cal Albro, 1947-2011. One of the first friends I met in Brooklyn almost 15 years ago and a good soul all around. Cal had a laugh that could only be described as "Pall Mall Unfiltered" and was great at giving advice on dealing with things he wasn't too informed on. He had one of the biggest hearts and never hesitated to help you out. He had a jailhouse tattoo of Snoopy. He played pool with the best of them and liked to dance. He wouldn't eat a vegetable if he could help it. He was my friend.

I just heard the news today that Cal had passed away from pancreatic cancer on March 5th and can't help but feel the world is a little smaller now. Though I had been out of touch with Cal for a while, he would pop into my head every now and then and make me smile. It was the same in real life, one of those guys you were always happy to see. I'll miss my pal, Cal.

Sketching MODOK With A Six Year Old

I drew this while hanging out with Christopher, a six year old. It's MODOK. And Chewbacca. Christopher was indifferent to MODOK, but asked what Chewbacca was doing with his mouth all agape. I said, "Laughing." He informed me, "He doesn't do that." Art directors are mean at any age, I guess.

Have your creativity crushed at March MODOK Madness.

Bigfoot, Late For Work

Any self respecting Bigfoot drives a 1971 Ford Pinto to work. And arrives 18 minutes late every day. Happy Bigfoot Month.

Eight MODOKs For The Price Of One

Sorry all. I've been a busy guy and on the road for the last week. Here's some quick sketches, eight little MODOKs to make up for my transgressions. I hope to get back to The Maleficent MODOK #1 as soon as I can. But for now... the Florida sun calls...

Catch some rays at March MODOK Madness!

Malaise MODOK

In between the day job and some freelance, I quickly squeezed out this MODOK, who is a bit out of sorts. Cheer up, buddy. You got 29 more days to go...

Get over your funk at March MODOK Madness.

March Is Also Bigfoot Month

My buddy, Wayne, over at Annex Comics has designated March as Bigfoot Month. It's a big month, so I'm willing it can handle some Northwest cryptozoological designation as well as harbor a Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. So I plan on throwing him a Bigfoot pic or two for his Facebook wall. My Bigfoot is some sort of sloth meets Shmoo deal. Hey, no one has seen him, right, so I might not be too far off.

Office Cat 02

Mr. sent me another Office Cat I drew for him in December, 2010. Hope he finds the threads we created in the past, those done in MS Messenger.

Office Cat 01

Little drawings Mr. Mr. and myself trade back and forth, usually a cat in some cubicle-type job. We call them Office Cats.
