After Work

After a long day of pushing pencils, one deserves an after work drink, or two, or three, or seven. Drunken Boy Dingus is one of the after work crowd, but then again he's part of the late night crowd, and the "it's-4-AM-get-out-of-the-bar-and-go-home" crowd. Hey, after an 8 hour work day, Dingus needs to relax at the bar for a good 10 hours.

The bar in this piece is based on the window end of the Abbey, near the "power corner". It was also drawn, I guess, at a time when you could still smoke in NYC bars. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

  1. Hey I've sat in that spot before. I bet Dingus was right next to me and I never even noticed. Or maybe I did notice, but politely ignored him so he could privately and shamelessly drink himself silly. Well either way I dig the Dinguses. I demand more.

  2. Mary-

He does have a way of blending in and was probably too busy getting his drink on to notice a lovely lady like you sitting next to him. And apparently vice versa. More Dinguses (Dingi?) to follow this week.

  3. Man, the plant on the right is a nice touch. The Abbey really should get a fern or two. Those things survive pretty well in low light and adverse circumstances.

  4. Menis-

I also hear those plants can live soully on beer and vodka. A great houseplant choice for any dive bar.
