Kind Of OK Comics #043
Rex Tarkleton came shambling back into my life yesterday, looking like a heap of bricks. He said he's been busy being on the lam after town got too hot for him. He remains the main suspect in a cheese factory robbery wherein 500 lbs. of sharp cheddar wheels were pilfered. He said that his unrelated business of becoming a legitimate cheese monger in Northwest New Jersey this past year had gone belly up after his cheddar supply was shot up, obviously the target of misdirected retaliation from a victimized cheese factory owner. It's best not delve too deep into Mr. Tarkleton's doings, I did, however, purchase this latest comic from him, oddly enough drawn on a wedge of cheese.
Enjoy.

Kind Of OK Comics #042
All I got was this comic strip and a slap in the face from Rex Tarkleton. After reading it, I figured it was best not to question the slap to the face.

Kind Of OK Comics #041
Rex Tarkleton and I were comparing stories about the reasons we've been thrown in the clink. I didn't have much to say, having never been incarcerated, so I sat back and listened to what sounded like a grocery list: Drunk and disorderly, lewd conduct, indecency, grand theft auto, public brawling, disturbing the peace, etc. But what really made me pay attention was an incident involving a knife fight with a one-legged nun in El Paso, Texas. Not only was he arrested and convicted, but excommunicated as well!

Kind Of OK Comics #040
Forty in the can and Rex is on a roll. He is a scoundrel and a lout, but he's mine. Even when he's biting me with his remaining teeth or barking at the neighbors. Matter of fact, for an elderly cartoonist, he makes for a pretty bad pet. Don't get me started at what he does to the living room rug...

Kind Of OK Comics #039
Man, a Rex Tarkleton from the future showed up to deliver this strip. He brought me warnings from the year 2012. For the most part, he told me to remember to buy coffee. Apparently, we run out of it a lot in the new year, not that it's a big problem, just kind of annoying all year long. Happy new year.

Kind Of OK Comics #038
A very merry Christmas strip from the esteemed Mr. Rex Tarkleton, discarded foodstuffs connoisseur and mall-Santa-fighter (he did a number on this year's chap before being escorted out of the place by the local constabulary). He said he had a present for me, which made me wince after remembering last year's gift: a fistful of best wishes.

Kind Of OK Comics #037
Rex Tarkleton, American war hero and angry hobo, is toeing the line and producing some of the best, err... not best, but... kind of okay work of his lifetime lately and in a consistent fashion. I mentioned this was highly unlike him given his past working schedule here on the blog, often leaving me to scramble to fill his absent post with my own artwork. He kindly assured me that what I do wouldn't be considered artwork by even a blind man's standards while patting my head condescendingly. It bummed me out a little until he told me I was pretty, though, right before he vomited in my kitchen sink.

Kind Of Okay Comics #036
From the unusual mind of Rex Tarkleton, who appreciates the mild weather we've been having, since he lives within it. Keep an eye out for more Kind Of Ok Comics in the new year as a regular, weekly feature by the esteemed Mr. Tarkleton. But with that guy, you never know.

Kind Of Okay Comics #035
Rex Tarkleton strikes again. He punched me in the gut, stole my blender, and harassed my houseplants. He also left this strip. Enjoy.

Kind Of Okay Comics #034
Well, I discovered I have a new porchmate who has successfully, without permission, decided to set up habitat upon my front porch for the winter. Strewn whiskey bottles and stubbed cigarette butts adorn the floor, yellowed underthings hang from the planters, and a strange stench of failure permeates the air. I was about to scold Rex for the unkempt appearance of the exterior of my humble abode, but then realized the porch was in such the same manner before he arrived. I told him he could stay if he made the place more presentable and if he delivered me a new comic for the blog. Begrudgingly, he came up with this beauty.

Kind of Okay Comics #033

Well, I was passing by a drainage ditch yesterday and, much to my surprise, my old friend, Rex Tarkleton, was laying about in the muck gazing at the sky. I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "The backstroke, ya idiot." After helping him out of the grimy pit and lighting his dampened smoke, I agreed to buy this new strip from him. As we parted ways, I wished him a Happy Labor Day, to which he retorted, "Labor Day? You ain't never had a hard day o' work in yer life!" and completed the good tiding with a few gestures and colorful adjectives. I'd like to say it was good to see him and wonder how he ended up in Rhode Island, but these questions will have to be answered on our next chance meeting. Welcome back, Rex.
