I think Pauline is way hotter than Princess Toadstool and Mario passed up a good thing. But I guess shacking up with royalty ain't bad either. In any case, Mario digs him some damsel in distress.
I might rework this piece. DK's pose is buggin' me.
Mario was first referred to as "Jumpman". From the Mario wikipedia page:
The character first appeared in the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong as a carpenter named "Jumpman", more commonly called "Mr. Video Game" in Japan. During localization of the game for American audiences, Nintendo's warehouse landlord Mario Segale confronted Nintendo's Minoru Arakawa, demanding back rent. Following a heated argument in which the Nintendo employees eventually convinced Segale he would be paid, they opted to name the character in the game Mario after him.
Mama Mia! You pay-a the rent! Jumpman went on to be the most well-known character in video game history. My original Mario post still seems to get a lot of hits, so you might be seeing him popping up here and there this month.

Hey all! Did up a poster for good ol' Mark at the Abbey, where he's hosting the annual Abbey Simpsons Thanksgivathon, Sunday November 29th. Each year I pick out around 20 good Simpson episodes for a marathon watching at the bar. It's usually a crowd pleaser.
Since I was making the poster, I felt bad because I've owed my cousin, Anne, a Simpsons-esque portrait of her for like a year now (D'oh!). Since I was already warmed up by drawing some Simpson characters, I figure now was a good time to deliver. She even gave me crap about it via facebook when I was asking people to submit ideas for drawings (which you should all do).

A few posts ago, I offered a call out to all of you out there to write in and suggest topics for me to illustrate. The offer still stands, so email me or leave a comment in this post telling me what you want me to draw.

Trying to do a short story starring Biff Banter and decided to post the first panel of page one (because that's all I gots). I've been looking at a few Basil Wolverton comics for inspiration and I have to say the man is a genius. I'm trying to capture the feeling he often created in his Powerhouse Pepper comics and even fashioned a font after his handwriting.
Crispy Gamer is having a contest this month featuring chickens, specifically pics of chix for member avatars. Why chickens, you ask, like you frequently do? Because it's sponsored by KFC, that's why, oh, askerer of questions. My entry above...

Here's a whole page from a Blitz Randall, Man of Action! comic book, by golden age creator Dash Simmons. He used to pal around with Rex Tarkleton back in the '50s. My, how things have changed.

That's right! Blitz Randall doesn't have time to think, he's a man of action! Is that sinister-looking man mugging a helpless, old woman or returning his beloved granny's dropped purse? Too late! Knuckle sandwich! Because real men run headfirst into danger and ask questions later! No matter what! Huzzah!
