Mary Worth, Cosmic Advisor

For The Line It Is Drawn July 17th, 2023:

We've done comic book characters in the style of newspaper comic strips, but let's reverse it! Suggest a famous comic strip and our artists will draw them like a comic book (whether a particular artist or a type of comic book). They're bursting out of the strip format! Snoopy as a Jack Kirby character, Garfield as a Mike Mignola character, etc.

Twitter follower, Keith Alan Morgan suggested Jack Kirby's Mary Worth. It could also be Marc Lighter's suggestion of Mary Worth in Fourth World Style.

The Replacement Avengers!

For The Line It Is Drawn May 15th, 2023:

In honor of the launch of Avengers #1, our own Rod Allen thought it would be fun for people to suggest odd new Avengers rosters. Name four heroes you'd like to see form a new Avengers lineup (if our artists feel like it, they might draw more than four, but I don't feel right asking them to draw more than four).

Twitter follower, Adrian Tullberg's (@adriantullberg) suggested:

-War Machine
-Monica Rambeu
-U.SAgent
-Thunderstrike
Code name; the Replacements.

Secret Invasion

From The Line It Is Drawn, November 20th, 2020:

With Joe Biden now being the President-Elect (as Biden has a recount-proof 20,000 vote lead in the tipping point state), suggest a comic book character that you'd like to see react to Donald Trump's loss.

Twitter follower, Avash_Ihteyaz suggested: Trump revealed to be a Skrull imposter, setting up secret invasion.

Action Kirby!

From The Line It Is Drawn, December 13th, 2019:
As part of our Fred Van Lente Day CSBG Takeover, Fred Van Lente has determine the theme for next week. It is Action COMIC BOOK CREATORS! Come up with a comic book creator (living or dead) and our artists will draw an Action version of them, like Fred and Ryan Dunlavey's acclaimed Action series of comics (Action Philosophers, Action Presidents, etc.). Oh, and of course, be sure to check out their Comic Book History of Comics, now discounted at Comixology!
Twitter followers, CraigJoly, JeffKeely and RandallJSanders suggested: Jack Kirby! I never give up a chance to draw something in the Kirby Style!

PING! PING! PING! Happy Mother's Day!

From The Line It Is Drawn, Week 390:
In honor of Mother’s Day, name a superhero, and our artists will come up with a Mother’s Day card either from that character or starring that character!
Twitter follower, Flonzo1 suggested: A Mother Box is sad it never gets a card.  Went with a Kirby inspired design on this one and, just so it won't be sad this year, I made a do-it-yourself card for those of you who need a last minute gift!

MODOK and OMAC

From The Line It Is Drawn, Week 356:
In honor of Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday, team-up two Jack Kirby characters from different companies. So a Kirby Marvel character with a Kirby DC character or a Kirby Topps character or a Kirby Pacific character
Twitter follower BigMike20X6 suggested: MODOK vs OMAC. We miss you, Jack.

Kirby MODOK!

It’s still time enough for March MODOK Madness, so that’s the theme! Note that the official NCAA March Madness ends in early April, so so too does March MODOK Madness end in early April! This year, it’s suggest celebrities that you’d like to see drawn as MODOKs!
Twitter follower, BigMike20X6 suggested: Jack Kirby.  Gotta go with Jack Kirby.  He's the man.

From The Line It Is Drawn, Week 255:

Twitter follower, KeithAlanMorgan, suggested: MODOK. You know me, I'm a sucker for MODOK.  And Jack Kirby.  Happy birthday, Jack!

Psychic Fair And Comic Expo

Coming up on October 19th, Annex Comics here in Newport, RI is hosting a small comic expo of sorts.  Local talents will be offering wares and services as we try to hash out what it takes to host a mini-con.  I'll have art and comics at my own table available.

I did this poster up real quick, laying and manipulating type and cleaning up a pilfered, Kirby Professor X head from an old X-Men logo.  Also, I was going for a Rick Griffin look, but sacrificed style for legibility.

Happy 95th Birthday, Jack Kirby!

Oh, That 90's Costume...

For this week's The Line It Is Drawn, the broad topic was:

A follower on Twitter suggested “The Thing in the '90s version of the Invisible Woman's costume.”  It really is a hideous and inappropriate costume and I had a lot of fun squeezing Ben Grimm in it.  So there you go.

As always, check out what the talented folks over The Line It Is Drawn came up with.

See you next week.

The Face Of Boe And MODOK

For this week's The Line It Is Drawn, the broad topic was:

We continue the British theme with team-ups or mash-ups of comic book characters with characters from Dr. Who!

A follower on Twitter suggested the Face of Boe and MODOK.  If you know me, you know I loves the MODOK.  However, I'm not too familiar with Dr. Who.  Thank you, Netflix, for providing me with several seasons of the new series, which I've spent a few days doing some marathon watching.  I decided to try and go for a Kirby look this week, which I think I didn't get right on the Face of Boe.  Oh well, better luck next week.
